Check out the following frequently asked questions about Red Gum Riding. If you still have questions, feel free to contact Kayleigh for more information.

What safety measures are in place?

As safety, both yours and the horses, is of paramount importance, we will ask you to attend your first riding lesson half an hour early. During this introduction, Kayleigh will walk you through basic horse safety, show you how to behave around horses and discuss some of the rules on the property that need to be followed to ensure that all have a rewarding and productive time.

See Basic property rules

While we will endeavour to do everything possible to ensure your safety, horse riding is inherently risky, and as such you will be asked to complete a risk waiver form in the unlikely event of an injury occurring. Red Gum Riding is fully insured, but in order to satisfy our insurer we will require you to adhere to any instruction and the rules of the property.
What types of lessons are offered at Red Gum Riding; any dressage, trail rides or just pleasure rides?

We cater for children, beginners, those with special needs and less experienced adult riders who wish to receive introductory training in basic horsemanship. Depending on the level of the rider, services include lead line rides for children not capable of controlling a horse to more advanced basic dressage skills for more confident and experienced riders.

Do I or my kids need any skills or abilities to begin?

Red Gum Riding typically caters for children between the ages of 5 and 18 but we're also happy for anyone to enjoy the riding experience at Red Gum Riding. And no.. no previous riding experience and no particular skill or abilities are required to enjoy a lesson.

I've never been riding before. What do I need to wear?

Here are some guidelines to help with this. It's pretty much common sense...
Typically, your apparel should include sleeved shirts and long pants with closed shoes. No singlets are to be worn. Riding helmets compliant with AS:3838 are compulsory and are to be worn by riders at all time.
